The Jerash Festival for Culture & Arts returned this year on 22 September in Jordan and is running ’til the 2nd of October, with many cultural and artistic events planned. Many well-known artists will be participating in the festivities, too.
The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts is an annual event held in the main Roman theatre in Jerash, a historical city located 48 kilometers north of the Jordanian capital Amman. This year, only people with proof of Covid-19 vaccinations will be allowed to buy tickets to the performances.
The Lebanese singer Najwa Karam will be performing tonight, Georges Wassouf will then perform tomorrow; Saif Nabeel, Hussein Al Deek, as well as 17 Jordanian artists including Diana Karazon are also on the line-up.
The festival includes several concerts by renowned Jordanians, as well as folkloric and other bands and singers from Palestine, Mexico, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Korea and Sweden.
The festival will also include exhibitions of productions of local community and women societies such as handicrafts and local foodstuff, events for poetry recitals by a number of Jordanian and Arab poets, and a modern art symposium taking place in the main colonnaded street of the site.
